Mesa County Sheriff Booking Records
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office manages the detention facility where all local bookings happen. Their main phone number is 970-244-3500. The sheriff's office is located in Grand Junction and is the central point for all booking record requests in the county. When someone is arrested by any law enforcement agency operating in Mesa County, that person is taken to the Mesa County Detention Facility for processing. Staff at the jail create the booking report during intake, recording the name, charges, arrest date, arresting agency, and personal details like date of birth and physical description.
Grand Junction Police Department handles most of the arrests that happen within city limits. But the booking report is still filed at the county level. The same goes for arrests by Fruita PD or Palisade PD. They all end up at the Mesa County jail. So if you need a booking report, you go to one place regardless of which department made the arrest.
Mesa County is one of the larger operations on the Western Slope. The detention facility processes a higher volume of bookings than most surrounding counties. This means records requests can sometimes take a bit longer during busy periods.
Note: For emergencies, call 911. The 970-244-3500 number is for non-emergency business including records.

The Mesa County Sheriff has 3 business days to respond to your request. An extension of up to 7 additional days is allowed for large or complex requests. Booking Photo Laws
Booking photos taken at the Mesa County jail are public records just like the rest of the booking report. You can request them from the sheriff's office. But Colorado has placed limits on what third parties can do with mugshots. Under C.R.S. § 24-72-305.5, publishing a booking photo online and charging a fee for removal is a class 3 misdemeanor. Fines can reach $1,000. This law applies to all Mesa County booking photos and protects people from mugshot extortion websites.
The sheriff's office will provide booking photos as part of a records request. The same fees and timelines apply. If the record has been sealed by a court, neither the booking report nor the photo will be released. Colorado allows sealing of certain arrest records, especially when charges are dismissed or never filed. A sealed record in Mesa County is completely removed from public access.
