Access Moffat County Booking Reports
Moffat County booking reports are maintained by the sheriff's office in Craig, a small city in the far northwestern corner of Colorado. The county has a population of about 13,000 people and covers a vast area of rugged terrain near the Utah and Wyoming borders. Booking reports here document arrests made by sheriff's deputies and Craig Police Department officers. All bookings are processed at the Moffat County jail. These records are public and you can get them by calling the sheriff's office or using statewide databases that pull booking data from across the state.

Moffat County Sheriff Records
Call the Moffat County Sheriff's Office at 970-824-4495 for any questions about booking reports. The office and jail are in Craig. When someone is arrested in Moffat County, they go through the booking process at the county jail. Deputies take fingerprints, a booking photo, and record all the details of the arrest including charges and personal information. That becomes the booking report. It is a public document from the moment it is created.
Craig has its own police department that handles city arrests. Those bookings still go through the Moffat County system. So whether the arrest was made by a sheriff's deputy on a rural road or by Craig PD downtown, the booking report ends up with the county sheriff. This makes the sheriff's office the single point of contact for all booking records in Moffat County.
There is no online inmate lookup for Moffat County. You need to call the jail or the sheriff's office to find out who is in custody. Have the person's full name and date of birth ready. Staff can usually check the system while you are on the phone.
Search Booking Data Statewide
The VINE system is a free service that lets you look up inmates across Colorado. Pick Colorado on the site and search by name. VINE will show you if that person is currently held in the Moffat County jail or any other facility in the state. You can register for alerts too. VINE sends notifications by phone, email, or text when the person's status changes. The toll-free number for VINE is 1-888-263-8463. It is open to everyone.
For a more detailed search, the CBI Internet Criminal History Check pulls arrest records from across Colorado for $6.85 per name. Enter the person's name and date of birth. The system searches statewide and returns any matching records, including data from Moffat County. This is useful when you want to check a person's full arrest history across the state, not just their current jail status in one county.

Note: VINE updates vary by facility. Some jails update the system faster than others.
Colorado Law on Booking Records
Booking reports in Moffat County fall under the Criminal Justice Records Act. The CCJRA is found at C.R.S. § 24-72-301 and sets out the rules for public access to criminal justice records. Records of official actions, which include arrests and bookings, are open to the public. The law at § 24-72-302 spells out what an arrest record must contain: the name of the arrested person, the charges, and the arresting agency.
When you submit a request to the Moffat County Sheriff, they have 3 business days to respond. They can ask for up to 7 more business days if the request is complex. The first hour of staff time to locate and prepare the records is free. If it takes longer than an hour, which would be unusual for a single booking report, fees can go up to $41.37 per hour. Paper copies cost $0.25 per page.
Colorado law at § 24-72-305.5 also covers booking photos. Mugshots are public. But posting one online and charging to remove it is illegal in Colorado. It is a class 3 misdemeanor with up to $1,000 in fines. You can still get a copy of a Moffat County booking photo through a normal records request.
State Prison Lookups
The Colorado Department of Corrections has a free offender search at doc.state.co.us/oss. This covers people who were convicted and sent to a state prison facility. If someone was booked in Moffat County and later sentenced to state prison, you can find their record there. It shows the prison they are in, their sentence length, and parole information. This is separate from the county booking report but gives you the follow-up on what happened after the case was resolved.
For people who were booked and released, or who served time only at the county jail, the CDOC search will not have them. You would go back to the sheriff's office or use the CBI check for those records.
