Arvada Booking Report Search

Arvada booking reports come from two county sheriff offices because the city sits in both Jefferson and Adams Counties. With a population over 124,000, Arvada is one of the larger suburbs in the Denver metro area. The county line cuts through the city, so the location of an arrest determines which county handles the booking. Most of Arvada falls in Jefferson County, but the northern part extends into Adams County. This page explains both systems and how to search for Arvada booking records in each one.

Which County Handles Arvada Bookings

Arvada straddles Jefferson County and Adams County. The majority of the city is in Jefferson County. The northern sections fall in Adams County. When someone gets arrested in the Jefferson County part of Arvada, they go to the Jefferson County jail in Golden. Arrests in the Adams County part go to the Adams County Detention Facility in Brighton. The booking report is created and held by whichever county processes the intake.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is at 200 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden. The jail number is 303-271-5444. The Records Unit is at 303-271-5542. The Adams County Sheriff's Office is at 4430 S. Adams County Parkway in Brighton. The jail number is 303-654-1850. If you are not sure which county handled an Arvada booking, check both inmate search systems. Both are free.

Note: Most Arvada arrests go through Jefferson County since the larger part of the city sits in that county.

Colorado Law on Arvada Booking Records

Booking reports for Arvada are public under the CCJRA. C.R.S. § 24-72-301 et seq. says that records of official actions, including arrests, must be open for inspection. Both Jefferson County and Adams County must respond to records requests within 3 working days. Under C.R.S. § 24-72-302, arrest records include the name of the accused, charges, date and place of arrest, and the arresting agency. Arvada booking records contain all this data.

Booking photos are public under Colorado law. But C.R.S. § 24-72-305.5 prohibits charging for removal of mugshots posted online. That is a misdemeanor with fines up to $1,000. Sealed records from Arvada will not appear in any search tool. Colorado allows record sealing through court petition, and the CBI seals some records on its own when charges are not filed within a year of the arrest.

When you submit a records request to either county, you will sign a form stating the data will not be used for direct business solicitation for monetary gain. This is a standard part of every Colorado records request. Both Jefferson and Adams County follow the same process. You can make the request in person, by mail, or by email depending on the county. Jefferson County also accepts requests through its records unit at 303-271-5542.
